Apple Crisp Recipe
Ingredients:
Filling:
4 - 5 cups apples
(about 6-8 apples)
1/4-1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3 Tbsp. sugar or less
3 Tbsp. flour
Crumble Topping:
1 cup flour
1 cup oats
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup cold butter
Instructions:
-
For the filling: Slice apples into a 9x13 glass pan.
-
In a small bowl mix 3 Tbsp. flour, 2-3 Tbsp. sugar, and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon. Pour into the pan of apples and mix.
-
For the crumble topping: In a large bowl mix the flour, oats and brown sugar.
-
Slice cold butter into bowl and cut in with a fork or pastry cutter. Do not get the butter warm as that will make more of a dough. We want it to crumble.
-
Spread crumb mixture over the apples.
-
Place in oven uncovered for about 40 minutes at 350° , or until golden brown.
-
Cool for 30 minutes. Serve with ice cream.
This is an old family favorite! We hope you enjoy it!
A Visit to Smith Apple Farm
We took a trip to Wisconsin. Along the way, we stopped at the Smith Apple Farm to pick some apples for crisp and pie!
We chose McIntosh, our family favorite, but decided to also buy some Cortland apples. The orchard had lots of pastries available. We just had to buy some apple donuts, apple cranberry bread and a bag of local fresh cranberries. So delicious!
